Word for Today: Put On Godly Character:  – Forgiveness – Above All Love.

Opening Scripture: Colossians 3: 12 – 15
12: Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13: bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14: But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15: And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Glory to God!

Forgiving one another as Christ forgave us is a command all believers should indulge in and obey. Do you find it difficult to forgive and let go when someone wrongs you?  If yes, the love of Christ is not richly dwelling in you.

Romans 5: 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

If forgiveness is part of God’s love towards us (remember we did nothing to earn it) why can’t we reciprocate such love (forgiveness) to one another?

The sin of unforgiveness puts many people on the path to hell. If God can forgive you for your deepest darkest sins, why can’t you forgive others for the smallest things? You repent and ask God to forgive you, but you can’t do the same.
No matter what the person did to you, you have to let go – nothing can be compared to what the Lord forgave us for.

One thing is certain – it hurts when someone hurts you but remember, unconditional love is loving someone when he or she doesn’t deserve it. Agape love! Genuine love covers a multitude of sins. Praise the Lord!

Unforgiveness hinders prayer. Jesus said the other day in Matthew 5:23 – 24 (Study) why we shouldn’t bring any gift to the altar with an unforgiving heart. Beloved has there been unanswered prayers?
Check if you have been harboring unforgiveness in your heart. Unforgiveness limits the flow of the Holy Spirit and spiritual growth.

The Holy Spirit dwells where there is love and love makes you forgive. He is still responsible for spiritual growth only when you yield to Him in obedience and forgiving of sin is an instruction you have to obey. Hallelujah!

Someone wrote this and I strongly believe; to be a Christian is to forgive the inexcusable because Christ forgave the inexcusable in us. Glory to God! Can this be said about you? A lot of blessedness comes through walking and living in forgiveness.

I urge you to be that person who holds no grudges. Pride is the main reason people hold grudges. Glory! There are no exceptions. Jesus never held any grudge.

He had every right to, but He didn’t. Scripture tells us to love and forgive everyone, even our enemies. Love does no harm and it overlooks an offense.

I pray for you today that you walk in forgiveness and enjoy a better relationship with the Holy Spirit. Be richly blessed in Jesus name Amen.
