Word for Today: Put On Godly Character – Above All Love Part II – Humility

Opening Scripture: Colossians 3: 12 – 15
12: Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13: bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14: But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15: And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Hallelujah!
Godly character shows you are a Child of God. Let’s talk about Humility.

Our role model was a humble man, He displayed humility before He came on earth and at various times while He was on earth.

Isaiah 50: 4 -5 study showed us how Jesus was humble to learn from God; it showed their strong relationship. It takes humility to learn. Hallelujah!

The Bible also said Thou modest him a little lower than the angels.  (See Hebrew 2: 7-9). It takes humility for Him to come to earth lowered than the angels to achieve His aim – for the sufferings of death to redeem us. Glory!

Jesus who was in form of God did not count equality with God but rather made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the
Cross.

Beloved is humility. (Study Philippians 2: 5 – 11)  He came not to be served but to serve, He give His life as a ransom for many (Study Mark 10: 45 and John 13: 3 -7) Jesus also showed humility as He washed the feet of His disciples.
While on earth He taught the disciples how to honour God more, He never did anything without God’s help. (Matt 6:9, John 17:26) I ask, do you make decisions without God? Are you then humble?

Beloved the pattern of humility has been set (John 13: 15).
Be Christ-like. Remember a person of humility will be exalted! God fights for the humble. Glory! Our savior is a perfect example of being humble. In humility you see others’ opinions come in handy.

Do you apologize easily when you wrong others? (Meaning you admitted you are wrong)Beloved humility makes you listen and hear others talk.

I urge you today to be Christ-conscious and let humility reign in you.
 I pray for you today to be Christ-like in humility in Jesus name Amen.
