Opening Scripture: Matthew 20: 26 – 28
26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Hallelujah!
Be like Christ who came to serve and through His service, He gave us everlasting life in God.
What you need to know is this; True leadership is found in serving others.
Are you serving others? How dedicated are you to the service of God?
Genuine service is done in humility just as our savior.
Philippians 2:6 -8
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Who is a servant as a believer?
A servant is a person who knows his or her spiritual poverty and exercises power under God’s control to maintain the right relationships. The servant leader apologizes for mistakes, shows mercy when others fail, makes peace when possible, and endures unmerited criticism when attempting to serve God with integrity.
(Study Matthew 5 : 3 -10)
Why should this be so? Our savior Jesus Christ set the pace/ pattern in his actions on our behalf in the opening scripture. If we say we are Christ-like, we should show ourselves to be Christ-followers by following his example.
Can this be said about you?
If I may ask, Are you easily throwing verbally abusive tantrums when people offend or make a mistake, or do you show compassion and correct in love?
Such character is ungodly and does not show serves as a believer – we are to lead by example.
Do you desire Greatness?
Remember Greatness comes through humility in service. (Humility and service)
Jesus said the other day in Matthew 18:4 He said, “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
A through servant inspires others to do excellently well in the things of God and their daily life desires. Glory!
Serving sometimes comes with suffering for the gospel. But the reward is greater.
To be great we must serve. Every believer in every church should seek humility, seek service and seek to be like Jesus Christ, and seek the kingdom of God.
May you desire to serve like never before. Be a slave for the kingdom and be the first. Then being a slave to the world and being the last. Preach the gospel of Christ everywhere you go.
We should be people of service and sacrifice.
God bless you.
I pray for you today to be humble to serve in Jesus’ name Amen.
