Word for Today: Genuine Repentance Comes With Humility.

Opening Scripture: 1 Kings 21: 29
Do you see how Ahab humbles himself before Me? Because he humbles himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his lifetime, but in his son’s day, I will bring the evil upon his house.

Halleluyah!
Humility is the quality of having a modest view of one’s importance.

Ahab humbled himself before God and received forgiveness. Praise the Lord!
No genuine repentance is void of humility.
We are the new creation reality we still make mistakes, and do and say wrong/bad things.

In other words, you still sin!
Not to worry Jesus died for your sins but in other to receive this forgiveness when we go wrong, we need to do something to activate it in our lives.

That is; we must humble ourselves to repent.
In humility, the following takes place:-
• You must reconcile and acknowledge you have sinned.
• Confess it as a sin.
• Be sorry for your sin and tell the Lord you are sorry
•Ask the Lord to forgive you

•And finally turn your back on sin and start to obey God.
Stay away from it. Flee!

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Ampc Yet I am glad now, not because you were hurt and made sorry, but because your sorrow led to repentance [and you turned back to God]; for you felt a grief such as God meant you to feel, so that you might not suffer loss in anything on our account.
For [godly] sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but worldly sorrow [the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe] produces death.

Paul tells us that Godly grief and the pain that results, produces a repentance that leads to salvation! Never treat sin lightly or think it is a joke rather it is a serious business: God hates!
Genuine repentance is when a heart makes a confession in humility.

James 4:10 says Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Be deeply penitent – even grieve and weep – over sin.
Do you know that without humility we won’t feel sorry and ask for forgiveness? Don’t be like some believers who are sorry over the consequence of sin but not the cause.

They were only sorry they got caught or because their sin created a problem.
True repentance is to change your mind for the better, it must precede forgiveness, and must be more than admitting guilt, and it requires a broken heart.

One changes his/her behavior that produces sin revealed by changed action which measures our spiritual integrity. And all this must be done in humility.

Psalms 51: 17, The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
God loves a sincere and remorseful heart. Can this be said about you?

Beloved, I urge you to live a life worthy of true repentance today.

I pray for you to be humble always in Jesus name Amen.
