Opening Scripture: Genesis 22: 9
Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.
Glory to God!
To build an altar takes obedience and willingness to sacrifice yourself. An altar is your place of prayer.
It is not seasonal as with people’s yearly fast – be it personal, as a family, church, or a unit where after they are done fasting they relax. No!
Altars are for continuous prayer. Pray without ceasing – no season attached.
An altar is a continuous, powerful, prayerful lifestyle, year in and year out. It’s a circle without an end. In every circumstance or when there is none, your altar is standing firm.
Even after the prayer is answered and there is a manifestation, your altar is solid. Understanding this altar is very important. Without an altar how can you relate to God? The altar is and should be part of you. Hallelujah!
In yesterday’s Devotional, I talked about what is an altar and also about personal altars.
Let me add this: – an altar is intended to be a place of true worship for God; a place where communication ensues between a Christian and his Creator, God.
Are you a true worshipper? Today I want to talk about another type of altar called the Family Altar.
A family altar is a place where family members meet for the purpose of communing, fellowshipping, praising, worshipping, and praying to God.
It comes with a specific time for the meeting. A family that prays together stays together and their prayers are answered.
Proverbs 15: 29 says the Lord is far from the wicked but heads the prayer of the
(consistently) righteous (the upright, in right standing with Him)
The benefits of a family altar are:-
• It helps to build eternal relationships on the foundation of strength.
• It enables them to build communication lines within the family.
• It protects them from outside attacks on their homes.
• It strengthens family ties and helps them discover their goals and dreams and at the same time helps them to achieve them all. Hallelujah!
• A prayerful family never goes astray. When parents are spiritually minded their children will become blessings to them and their generation (Study Proverbs 22: 6)
Do you want God’s rain for divine harvest to rest upon your home continually this year? Build your family altar.
Being believers have qualified you for the rain of blessings this season.
Your level of commitment to your family altar will determine the level of rain and harvest. Do you have a family altar?
The answer tells you your stand. I love the Lord. The moment you became committed He is readily available to send rain.
I urge you to sow something positive this year and that’s building a family altar so that its foundation can never be altered.
I pray for you to receive answers to your prayers as a family in Jesus name. Amen.
