Opening Scripture: Colossians 3: 12 – 15
12: Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13: bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14: But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15: And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Hallelujah!
The dictionary meaning of Long-suffering says having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people.
But the biblical meaning simply says never give up or give in! No matter how discouraged, confused, or disheartened you are with the Christian walk you hold on to God’s promises. It’s one of the fruits of the Spirit.
Beloved hope in God and His promises are the anchors of our souls. It’s vital for us to have complete confidence that the Lord will do all He promises to do in His Word. Is that not the basis of our faith?
To avoid us giving up we need longsuffering. It is a part of God’s character, His image and His nature. It’s something He wants us all to learn and experience in our Christian life. Praise the Lord!
Longsuffering speaks of a person who doesn’t give in to dismay, confusion, and discouragement in difficult circumstances but patiently endures them without complaint. It is when you see the invisible God in the midst of the trial. Glory!
Hebrew 11: 27 says By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
Beloved do you possess the godly character called long-suffering?
The name does not imply you suffer for so long but that you are patient to hold on to His promises.
Patience brings out the best in you and your faith. (Study James 1: 3 – 4)
2 Corinthians 4: 8 – 9, We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
We are loved by God and He desires that we live an abundant life. His abundant life only comes from dying to self and living for Christ. Praise the Lord! God loves us and wants us to bear fruit that never rusts and never passes away – the fruit of the
Spirit.
Beloved, I urge you to trust God and wait on His promises with long-suffering and enjoy God’s overflowing blessings.
I pray for you today that you will allow the Holy Spirit to make you walk in longsuffering for greater miracles in Jesus name, Amen.
