Opening Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5: 15 Ampc
See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody.
Glory to the King of kings!
Beloved God’s word instructs us to do good not only by helping to hurt people but also by blessing our enemies.
We do so because we overcome evil with good.
“See that none of you repays another with evil for evil” (Study Psalm 37:1- 5) We have a secret weapon that works like a miracle when trouble comes, when people hurt us, or when we have personal challenges /needs – all we need to do is to do good!
Romans 12: 21 says Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
When someone hurts you or treats you unjustly first of all pray for them.
Ask God to forgive them and open their eyes to see how their wrongdoing displeases Him. If such a person is unsaved then pray for their salvation.
The moment you do this you release yourself from being angry with them and fretting over what they have done.
Don’t expect to feel differently towards them right away but I bet you it is difficult to stay angry with the person you pray for always. Some of the barriers to stopping us from doing good are when we are hurting inside, therefore, let no one or nothing stop you.
No matter the challenge you are facing beloved it’s important to do good then. Jesus, our role model was in pain on the Cross yet He prayed to His Father to forgive those who crucified Him. WOW!!
What a heart to do well! (Study Luke 23 verses 32 – 43)
When we have no problem, we need no discipline to be kind and do well.
When we are hurting, however, it takes a lot of discipline to trust God to come through yet you do His will by still doing well.
Someone needs your listening ear – offer it. Another person needs sincere encouragement – render it.
Another needs a little financial assistance given without looking back. Beloved someone somewhere needs that good work – look out for it.
Acts 20:35 NIV says it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Giving of ourselves to doing good releases joy into our lives and enables us to be happy.
Can one be happy even with problems? Of course! Get your mind off those problems and focus on doing good for someone out there.
No matter how much you focus on your problem all day, won’t make God answer you based on that. Praise the Lord!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you have too many problems and therefore you can’t help other people.
Beloved, anytime we do good, we are sowing a seed that will release our own harvest. Hallelujah! I ask, do you want to be useful in this world and live with a satisfying purpose? Do good!
Charles Dickens said “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another
“Beloved I urge you to do good, be happy always and let your heart continually rejoice.
I pray for you today to be a person who does good deeds against all odds in Jesus name Amen.
